Pre-Contest Meeting: March 26th, Thursday 5:00PM – 5:30PM @ SLCC Westpoint Welding Classroom (Across the hall from the Welding Lab)

27th, Friday 8:00AM – 12:00PM @ SLCC Westpoint Welding Lab
Rules &
Guidelines:
-Contestants are to observe all safety guidelines
during the competition; including the wearing of safety glasses, uniform,
and closed-toe shoes at all
times.
-There will be a total of (6) rotations, 30 minutes each: GMAW-Carbon Steel, FCAW-Carbon
Steel, SMAW-Carbon Steel, GTAW-Aluminum, Oxy Fuel Cutting-Carbon Steel, & Written
Exam.
-Contestants
will complete a total of 5 widgets: (1) GMAW, (1) FCAW, (1) SMAW, (1)
GTAW, & (1) Oxy Fuel (cutting only).
-Once the drawings have been handed out, students
are not allowed to talk to their instructors, nor other contestants regarding
the drawings.
-Once the part has been tacked up, it must stay
on its base during all welding. The contestant will lose 50% of their points on
that widget, if they’re caught rotating it.
-If a contestant finishes early during a
rotation, they are to remain in their booth until it’s time for the next
rotation.
-Contestants must remain in the lab until
11:30AM. No “going out for a snack.” Contestants are allowed to carry a water
bottle during the competition. (See full list of what’s allowed below).
-Lunch will be served at 11:30AM, and we’ll
conclude with a raffle at 12:00PM.
